Is one of the “classic” trips of Romanian traveling-Prahova and Timis Valleys-which is added Teleajenului Valley, less beaten, but as beautiful as the other two
Bucharest: the capital of Romania, locality placed on the shores of the rivers Dambovita and Colentina. Material marks from Paleolithic, documentary presence from 20 September 1459. Main politic, administrative, economical and cultural centre of the country. The old city (XVI; ruins), architectural monuments (XVI-XX century), The Museum of History of Bucharest, The Museum of art collections, The Museum of the village and folk art, The Museum of natural history Grigore Antipa, commemorative plates, statues, theaters, parks, lakes and resort areas—-leisure area , restaurants, summer gardens. Baneasa forest (zoological garden, restaurant, wine-shop, touristic halting place-10km.)
Ploiesti: city near the confluence of Teleajenului with Prahova; city-residence of Prahova district. Important centre of petrochemical, builders of oil tankers installations, textile industries. Museums of history and ethnography, natural sciences, plastic art; museum of petroleum, memorial museum I.L. Caragiale; carpet exhibit from Campia Dunarii; collection of unique watches in the country; architectural monuments (XVII century); commemorative plates.
Campina: city near the confluence of Doftana River with Prahova. Borough and harbor in 1502, develops after 1850 when the first signs of extraction in oil industry are founded. Chemical industry, machines building. Memorial museums N. Grigorescu and B.P. Hasdeu. Surroundings: Doftana (prison where were kept numerous countrymen that participated at the revolt from 1907; museum). Brebu (history museum, architectural monument, XVII century).
Sinaia: city – the first laical settlement from Prahova valley (1784), climacteric resort (780-1000m altitude) and winter time sports (1400-2000m altitude). Ski tracks, artificial track for sledge, chairlift, funicular, baby-ski-lifts. Monument of architecture (1695) and museum of medieval art; exhibit of European decorative art (XIX-XX centuries); the houses where N. Iorga, G. Enescu, A. Simu lived – specific constructions in the mountainous regions. Start for lots of trips- marked paths. Surroundings: Bucegi plateau (funiculars), touristic halting places “Izvorul Rece” and “Vadul Cerbului”.
Busteni: town placed in a large glade at the foot of Caraiman massive (2384m alt.), climacteric locality (880m.alt.) the main centre of alpine activity from Bucegi. Marked paths, funicular, Memorial Museum Cezar Petrescu; the statue “Ultima grenada”; zoo corner; monument in the memory of the heroes from the First World War – on Caraiman (2325m.alt.). Start point in numerous excursions. Surroundings: Bucegi plateau (funicular).
Predeal: town, the only one in the country settled at more than 1000m altitude (Predeal Pasul – 1032m.alt.), climacteric and winter time sports resort (1040-1400m.alt.). Marked paths, ski tracks, funicular, lifts, babyskilifts.
Brasov- city settled at the foots of Tampa mountain (550m.alt) at the south side of Tara Barsei; capita-city of Brasov district. Dacian-Roman vestiges, old Romanian settlement (Schei-XII century). The second industrial centre from the country-tractors, auto-trucks, chemical products, textiles, foot wear. Fortress (towers, gates and walls, XV-XVI century); architecture monuments ( XIV-XVIII century); museums (Casa Sfantului, Schei, Bastionul Tesatorilor); art galleries, theatres. Marked paths, funicular.
Poiana Brasov: climacteric and winter sports resort (1020m.alt.) at 14km south-west of Brasov, at the foots of Postavarul mountain. Lake, gym and playground; marked paths, ski tracks, funicular, chairlift, lifts, baby-ski-lifts. Surroundings: Postavarul (1590m.alt.), Cristianul Mare (1705m.alt.) chalets.
Sacele: locality formed from the union of four from the seven Sacelean villages from Tarlungului valley. Ethnography and folk art museum-in the former “casa a dijmelor”-“tithe’s house” (1543). Surroundings: the balneal-climacteric seasonal Zizin, 609m. altitude, indicated for treating the alimentary channel, renal, cardio-vascular and genecology diseases.
Cheia: village founded in 1864 on Teleajenului Valley, at the foot of Ciucas mountains, in the environs of Bratocea Pasului (1263m. alt); permanent climacteric resort (870m. alt) recommended in treating the asthenia, tiredness, insomnia and anemia, asthma and chronic diseases of respiratory system. Possibility to practice ski. Museum “Natura vaii Teleajenului”-“the nature of Teleajenului Valley”; monastic architectural complex (1835). Surroundings: Cheitei valleys, Muntele Rosu (1260m. alt.) and Ciucas (1550m. alt.) chalets.
Valenii de Munte: city, the main settlement from Teleajenului Valley, documentary mentioned in 1431 as “targ al sacuienilor”-“borough of the Secuians”, climacteric locality (431m. alt.). the memorial museum Nicolae Iorga and a collection of feudal art in the former house of Saantului (XVIII century), ethnographical museum; the memorial house of Nicolae Tonitza (1921-1924). Surroundings: Hanul Rosu (halting place at 1610, nowadays museum of the old means of transport); Drajna village (antiques vestiges, architecture and grinder of stone, XVIII-XIX).
Slanic: city settled on the valley of the river with the same name, balneal-climacteric resort (400m. alt.). It caught shape around 1885, because of the lakes formed in the former Salt mine ; afterwards seven springs with mineral water are discovered, it is used sapropelic mud and more recently, are the treatments anti-asthma in “Unirea” salt mine (with sculptures in the underground). Therapeutic indications: affections of the locomotive system, genecology, bronchial asthma, anemia, debility at children. The museum of the salt- the former salt mine (1800); the mountain of sea, monument of the nature.
