A trip of the main settlements from middle Moldavia
Iasi: city settled on the middle stream of Bahlui. Ancient vestiges, existence before feudal Moldova state founding, documentary mentioned in 1387-1392; capital of Moldavia XVI century. Museums of plastic arts, ethnography, history, polytechnic – in Palace of Culture (1890-1926); museum of the union, museum of ancient literature; memorial houses; statues; National Theatre (1896); monuments of architecture (XVI-XVII centuries); Leader’s house (1490;ruins); Copou park; botanic garden. Surroundings: Ciric (touristic halting place, restaurant); Bucium-inn.
Strunga: village from the valley with the same name. seasonal balneal resort -226m. alt. recommended in treating the affections of the locomotive system, alimentary channel and annex glands, genecology.
Mircesti: village from Siret meadow, place where Vasile Alecsandri spent his childhood (1821-1890). Memorial museum; mausoleum. Surroundings: Miclauseni village (Sturza castle, neo-gothic; 1904; museum).
Roman: city at the confluence of Moldova river with Siret. After the legend of Dimitrie Cantemir, was founded while Traian emperor was leading. Museum of history, natural sciences, plastic art, the history of medicine; fortresses (1394, XV century; ruins); the house of Ion Stefanescu (1852; Stejarul Unirii); memorial monument Miron Costin.
Piatra Neamt: city on the middle stream of Bistrita; residence city of Neamt district. Vestiges from Neolithic, Bronze Age; Dacian fortresses; marks of some XIII settlements, borough in XV century documents. Museums of history, natural sciences, ethnography, plastic art; memorial museum Calistrat Hogas; antiques fortifications at Horodistrea Cozla, Dacian fortress Petrodava (I BC- IAC; marks); the leader’s fortress (1497-1499; vestiges). Surroundings: Bistrita village (monument of architecture, 1554), Tazlau village (monument of architecture, 1497)
Buhusi: town on the inferior stream of Bistrita. Locality named in ancient times Bucurestii Mici (Small Bucharest). The inn from Gura Orbicului (XVIII century); former manor of Buhusi family(XIX century).
Bacau: city near the confluence of Siret with Bistrita; residence of Bacau district. Antique (IV century) and medieval settlement (1408). Museums of history and plastic arts, natural sciences; George Bacovia memorial house; Nicu Enea house-museum; voivodal court (1482; vestiges); the Administrative Palace (1880).
Vaslui: city at the confluence of Vaslui river with Barlad; residence of Vaslui district. Museum (history, ethnography, popular art, memorial section “Constantin Tanase”); voivodal court (XV century); funeral complex Penes Curcanul ; Ghica and Mavrocordat houses (XIX century); the statues of Stefan cel Mare (1972); Copou park. Surroundings: Moara Grecilor; Podul Inalt (monument dedicated to the battle from 1475 won by Stefan cel Mare); Solesti village (the manor of Rosetti family; the tomb of Elena Cuza).
