The trip causes knowledge of the natal places, of great resonance in the writings of Liviu Rebreanu and George Cosbuc, as well as crossing northern Carpathians on two of the most spectacular gorges from the country –Prislop and Tihuta
Bistrita: city set on the valley of Ardeal’s Bistrita, residence of Bistrita Nasaud district. Settlement existing since 1200, documentary mentioned in 1264, “civitas” in 1361. Museum (history, archeology); fortress (XV-XVI century, ruins); monuments of architecture (XIII-XV century); the houses of Ion Zidarul, Argintarul, parochial (XVI century), archeology assembly Sugalete (XVI-XVII century).
Liviu Rebreanu: city (former Prislop) set in the superior basin of Somesul Mare. Here Liviu Rebreanu spend his childhood (1885-1944). Memorial museum; bust realized by Romulus Ladea.
Nasaud: city set on the shore of Somesul Mare; documentary mentioned in 1260. Museum of history, natural sciences in the former Svarda barracks (XVIII century).
Sangeorz Bai: city settled on the confluence of Borcutului with Somesul Mare, at the foot of Rodna mountains. Permanent balneal-climacteric resort -465m. alt. with the mineral water “Hebe” unique in Europe, recommended in treating the affections of the alimentary channel, hepatic-biliary, nutrition and metabolism.
Rodna: village set at the confluence of Izvorul Bailor with Somesul Mare. Mining exploitation of non-ferrous metals since Romans, (probably Rutna or Rudna) and afterwards. City from 1235. Fortress (XI-XII century, ruis); monument of architecture (XIII-XIX century). Surroundings: balneal-climacteric resort Valea Vinului, recommended in treating the diseases of the cardio-vascular system, alimentary system, anemia, convalescence, nervous asthenia.
Cosbuc: village (former Hordou) placed on Salautei valley. George Cosbuc born here. Memorial museum; bust (Arturo Vetro).
Moisei: village on Viseu valley. Wood made monument of architecture-1672; sculptural assembly –Vida Geza- in the memory of anti-fascists heroes.
Borsa: city settled to Viseu sources. Surroundings: baile Borsa ( mineral waters); touristic complex Borsa (climacteric and winter sports practicing resort, 850m. alt.); trips in Maramuresului mountains (Toroioaga summit, 1930m. alt.) and Rodnei ( Pietrosu summit, 2303m. alt.); Prislop gorge (1416m. alt.).
Sacel: village at Iza sources, at the border of historic Maramures and Nasaud. Millenary pottery centre where is used the Dacian tracery.
Carlibaba: village placed on Bistrita Aurie Valley. Place where “dismounted” Bogdan, coming from Cuhea, Maramures (1359, folkloric area.
Ciocanesti: city settled on Bistrita Aurie Valley. Ethnographic and folkloric area ( most of the houses with facades decorated with floral and geometric tracery, like those from the peasant clothing)
Vatra Dornei: city from the confluence of Bistrita Aurie with Dorna. Documentary attested in 1592-1595. Permanent balneal-climacteric resort (800m. alt.), with mineral waters (the first chemical analysis made in 1806). Therapeutic indications: affections of cardio-vascular system, locomotive system, neurology. Dornelor museum (natural sciences); park; Masa lui Terente (ski track); Runc hill. Surroundings: the chalets Giumalau 1600m. alt.; Rarau -1520m alt.;Mestecanis -1099m. alt., Pasul Tihuta 1201m. alt.
Prundul Baraganului: village placed between the springs of Bistrita Ardeleana. Folkloric area; Popasul tapinarilor-popular holiday of forest (October)
