The High Area of Bucegi
Day 1
Busteni – Valea Jepilor (The Knee Pines’ Valley) – Cabana Caraiman (Caraiman Cabin) – Crucea de pe M. Caraiman (Caraiman Cross) – Cabana Vf Omu (Omu Peak Cabin) – Saua Hornurilor (The Chimneys’ Saddle) – Cabana Malaiesti (Malaiesti Cabin).
We leave Busteni from the gondola station and we venture ourselves into the Knee Pines’ Valley displaying impressive views of the Eastern valleys of Bucegi.
Then, from the Caraiman Cabin we head for the Heroes’ Cross in the Caraiman Mountains. Built between 1928 – 1929 at Queen Maria and King Ferdinand’s initiative, the monument commemorates the soldiers who had sacrificed themselves in the first of the world wars.
From there, we turn to Omu Peak and the cabin with the same name and reach the highest point in Bucegi Mountains (2505 m altitude). After a short resting pause, we continue our journey going down towards the Chimneys’ Saddle and then further to Malaiesti Cabin (1720 m altitude) where we have dinner and spend the night.

Day 2
Cabana Malaiesti (Malaiesti Cabin) – Take Ionescu – Brana Caprelor (The Goats’ Trail) –Vf Bucsoiu (Bucsoiu Peak) – Cabana Vf Omu (Omu Peak Cabin) – Valea Cerbului (The Stag’s Valley) – Busteni.
We wake up early in the morning and at 8 o’clock we are ready to go on Take Ionescu trail up to the point called “Prepreleac’s” (La Prepeleac). From there, we climb Big Bucsoiu ridge, pass the Goats’ Trail and Bucsoiu Peak (2492 m altitude), and reach Omu Peak once more only to leave it again and go down the Stag’s Valley all the way to the city of Busteni.
