Dominating through his altitudes Marginimea Sibiului, the Cindrel Mountains ocupies the N-E side of the mountain groupe between Olt, Jiu and Strei river, being for this group a Transylvanian bastion. Their territory is endowed with many meadows and sheep, shepherding being the main occupation of the inhabitants of Marginime.

Sheepfolds are generally built of fir planks, with roofs in two waters. The sheepfold is the main part of the pastoral mountain complex, its the key element during thrust animals. The sheepfold has multiple functions, it providies the necessary shelter for shepherds and the dependencies for the production process.
The most important dependencies in a sheepfold are:
bolier (used for milk processing).
sheepfold sheets (for leavening curd and processed cheese).
sheepfold cheese (or cheese hut is located in the north, where they keep the cheese).
Habits of the shepherds in the surroundings
Mountain climbing.This climbing activity aims to grazing animals. Thus, around the 1`st of May 1 sheep starts grazing on pastures of the valley. In early June, the mountain sheep are climbed at the mountain, in order to continue grazing on alpine pastures.
Sheep shearing. Takes place during the month of March, with at least 3-4 weeks before leaving to grazing animals.
Chosen sheep. Or sheep scattering, is one of the most important festivals held in Sibiu Surroundings. This celebration takes place after the owners of the sheepfold come down from the mountain, they bring back the animals to their owners finalaizing the understanding with them. More specifically, owners recover their animals receive appropriate and dairy products, by paying the owner of the sheepfolds the costs of the zooveterinary treatment.

Living in nature, is not foreign shepherd anything that gives generously. Once we reached the pen of a sheepfold, the shepherd greets us with traditional dishes prepared in the sheepfold, such as fresh curd, feta, cheese, a cup of milk, however with a piece of polenta cooked in a pot, above the hearth.
We will also taste the famous “jintita” (milk product prepared by slowly heating the whey got by draining from the curd), or the famous “bulz” we will be able to eat the tender meat of a lamb prepared on the grill as just shepherds know and not least to taste a glass of brandy to make us appetite.
Conclude these lines, through to present a few verses of a very friendly shepherd, Ion Radut from Raul Sadului, who always welcomed us with open hands and served us with all goodness that he and his wife, prepare at the mountain top in their sheepfold.

Details of participation at the tour:
Minimum number of participation at the tour is at least 3 persons and maximum 10 people for one companion guide, but if the number of participants is greater I will bring another companion guide.
Depending on the number of participants will choose the transportation.
Throughout the tour will be accompanied by authorized mountain guide (A.G.M.R.).
Medical insurance / accident insurance.
The duration of the tour does not exceed more than 5 -6 hours, from which approximately 2:00 hours we will be at thesheepfold.
You also can choose to sleep there …. But you need sleeping bags because we will sleep in the sheephold attic sheepfold, on gry hay.
