Hiking in the heart of Apuseni Mountains
On Padis Plateau, the heart of Apuseni Nature Park, hikers begin each day with a fresh approach to life, getting ready for a new challenge while campers proudly display their hammocks for what promises to be another lazy day in
the shade.La ‘belle vie’ of Padis, that wonderful, natural pace of life, surrounds the foggy glades. We invite you to experience it with us, from the greatness of Cetatile Ponorului karst phenomenon to the textured karst relief of Sesul Padis. Walk through the labyrinth of the Lost World Plateau and explore the story of the water that creates it. Pair a bottle of ice-cold beer with a Romanian sausage grilled on the campfire, along with some baked potatoes, in the sound of a guitar played by one of the regular visitors of the area: the simple pleasures of life! Beyond hiking: easy caving, traditional way of life, mountain culture.
Length: 11 days/10 nights. Difficulty: moderate.
8 days for 9 caves
Viorel’s hay-covered wooden house stands on the top of the hill, pastures of wild flowers blanketing the slopes. Inside, the flavors that define the Romanian cuisine: smoked pork speck, wine, home made bread and telemea (a type of sheep cheese) are ready for the quick but tasty dinner. Consider it a just reward
after the day’s scenic caving trip in one of the local caves. ThisApuseni Experience

Trekking The Lost World
A pack, a trail and yourself is everything you need. Think of it as Zen on foot: you eat when you’re hungry, you trek when you feel like and you sleep when it’s time to rest. Despite the effort, being self-sufficient on the trail is satisfying in a way few things in our normally hectic lives can be. Crafted for the avid trekkers, the itinerary follows an imaginary line from north to south of the mountains, passing through forests, deep gorges, mountain pastures and karst plateaus, all in one: a true lost world. Meet locals who live close to Mother Earth and are always happy to share their view upon life with you and be prepared to face the question: ‘Why are you climbing the mountains?. Beyond trekking: hiking, traditional way of life, mountain culture.
Length: 10 days/9 nights. Difficulty: moderate to difficult
Others about us:
”Our time spent in the Apuseni Mountains this winter was unforgettable. A week’s tour skiing and hiking in beautiful scenery, meeting and staying with people who were genuinely hospitable and keen to show us
their fascinating way of life. The diversity of weather only added to our experience, with heavy snow, sun, rain and, up high fog all in a week. The trip was well organized and tailored to our interests. ” Peter and Esther, UK.
Apuseni Touring Ski
The sound of frozen snow under your skis and your harsh breath are the only things that take your attention away from the glorious sunny day. You stop for a while and hold your breath, the scenery is stunning and silence seems to be the queen of the day. In early mornings, if you’re trained enough, you can hear a capercaille male calling for a female. Even in this frozen landscape, life follows its natural course. Taste a little bit of the Romanian winter magic! Enjoy a holi- day of alpine touring ski on the wide plateaus and deep forests of Apuseni Mountains, where animal tracks might be the only signs of movement and life. In the evenings, warm your hands above the fire and your soul over a glass of crampa (boiled plum brandy), along with a traditional meal, in the Apuseni Expe- rience style. Beyond skiing: wildlife tracking, winter hiking, traditional way of life.Length: 9days/8 nights. Difficulty: moderate
Golden Eagles in Trascãu Mountains
The location: Mãnãstirii Valley-Trascãu Mountains. The view: a pair of golden eagles feeding their cubs. The setting: layers of mountains after mountains, as far as an eye can see. And this is only the first day. On our weeklong bird-watch- ing trip to Trascãu Mountains, every day offers a blend of the region’s best natu- ral settings, iconic birds, gentle wild flowers and easy-going hikes. Explore the wild of Râmeţului Gorges, ‘walking on water’ on one of their steep slopes.
