From peak Pietrosu Oasului with its massive, imposing outline which rises up to 1200 m. you can surprise the wide panorama of the depression with its effervescence of colors . The hearth of the depression is not too extensive, it covers an area of 614 square km and it resembles a camp with the appearance of a Roman amphitheater.

The natural architecture of Tara Oasului, with ancient elements of material culture coming from archaeological digging, the new public buildings, all of these invites the tourist to admire them for hours. Here the historical truth is found in legends, folklore with poetry, the vestiges of the past with contemporary art. The ethnographic, attractive and original richness of the popular creation is emphasized by the museum of Oas-Negresti town, where over one thousand five hundred exhibits present the traditional occupations of the natives, occupations like: pottery, wood processing, sewings and other popular fabrics. For the quality of the exhibits, the creators of these regions have received many awards. If from Certeze locality at a 10 km distance you start climbing the mountain to Maramures, you will get to the tourist inn called Sambra Oilor. Salatruc Chalet and Vraticel Chalet with its restaurant are important tourist bases that facilitate the knowledge of the area.
What is specific for Oas are the customs(traditions) found only here. The picturesque costumes or the dance and „tipuriturile ” arouse the admiration of those who stop by during the feasts at inns in Bixad, Negeresti-Oas, Certeze, Moiseni or Camarzana and other localities. The picturesque villages scattered on the hills, with houses and belongings of wooden beams, some high roofs wrapped with straw, may be considered open-air museum. At Bixad the main tourist attractions are: spas (carbonated waters) and Bixad Monastery (in 1682) an element of attraction being the osanesc costume(the traditional costume that people who live in Tara Oasului wear) .You could also visit and admire „Dumbrava” Oak Nature Reserve 1,000 years a relic of the old forest.

Vama locality is famous for the art of the artistic pottery, the village museum and the osanesc costume. Nearby there is the Valea Mariei Spa.

In spring, when the sheep are taken in the mountains for grazing, a popular festival is held here: the nedeile also called Sambria Oilor similar to the festival of Huta-Certeze. They provide a good opportunity to admire the beauty of the popular costumes.
