BLACK SEA COASTLINE

Through the most beautiful and catchy places in our country is, without doubts, the Black Sea coastline. Here are coming people from all over the world to taste the beneficence of the sun and the sea. The Black Sea or “The Fortress of the Sun” spreads between the channel Sf. Gheorghe and Vama Veche locality, 91km are used for local and international tourism. As width, is spread from the shore at a distance of 5-20km. The area represents the most complex landscape from Dobrogea trough relief, climate, water, vegetation and anthropic forms. Characteristic in this way, are the following elements: weather, exceptional quality of the beach, water and especially the technical-economical facilities. The climate is a factor of special importance, being different trough its particular characters from other climacteric areas. Is the most arid weather from our country, propitious to helio-marine treatment. The annual numbers of the days without sun is small, for example 62 days at Constanta, the clear sky prevailing, and are not great variations of the temperature. Above the seaside, especially in the summertime, movements of continental air and maritime air, with alternative character (thermal breeze of day and night) take place. The annual average of the atmospheric precipitations is 350-400mm, and the snow’s layer maintains little time on the ground. The Romanian seasides, with numerous new resorts that shine under the sun attract uncountable visitors from all over the country and from outside the country, for relaxing or for treatment and it represents the main touristic area of the country. Each of the 15 resorts presents different characteristics in which concerns the constructions architecture, but also the appearance and the width of the beaches. This attracts the travelers to visit other places every year. Generally, the resorts from the north of Constanta are arranged for recreation and repose, while the ones from the south for balneary tourism. Navodari city, well known for the camps for students, is situated on the shore of the sea and of the lake Tasau. Southern, between the lake Siutghiol and Black Sea is placed the resort Mamaia, which has a 8km long beach and divided in more sectors named after the hotel’s name ( Neptun, Sirena, Ovidiu, Cazino, Tomis) with more than 10.000 places capacity. Is one of the eldest resort, appeared in 1906, developing slowly and becoming one of the most beautiful resort, named, fairly “Perla Marii Negre” – “The pearl of the Black Sea”. Here, both Romanian and foreigner tourists are enchanted by the benefic natural beauty, the comfort of the villas and hotels and the special attention of the hosts.

Constanta placed on the ruins of the ancient city Tomis – the biggest maritime harbor of our country, balneal and resort centre, settled at commercial crossroads, opens to our country a large gate to all the seas and oceans of the world. A characteristic of the city is represented by the urban features of the quarters, the multitude of shops, the old monuments and other attractions that satisfy the most divers’ preferences. The commercial harbor, with a great capacity of loading-unloading appears like a true piece of art.

From Tomis the touristic harbor, leave and come without cease coast-boats that connect Constanta and the other balneal-climacteric resorts from the seaside. Historic monuments, museums, especially Dobrogea’s Museum of Archaeology, roman edifice with mosaic (III-IV century), Genoese lighthouse, the planetary, the statues are objectives that attract a great number of tourists.

The access ways to Constanta – road transport, transport via railways, aerial or maritime – are numerous; all the roads that pass Danube (trough Ostov DN 3, Giurgeni-Vadul Oii E 15, Braila DN 22, Galati DN 22), the railway Fetesti-Cernavoda and the railways from Tulcea and Mangalia converge to Constanta.

Agigea is known trough the reservation of flora and fauna (the tortoise) marine dunes and a sanatorium.

Eforie (North and South) is a resort with modern complexes of buildings and hotels with a high capacity of accommodation; greens and parks with multicolored flowers were arranged.

Techirghiol resort, situated on the north-west shore of the lake with the same name, is remarked trough the therapeutics qualities of the mud and the water, that is more times salted than the sea.

Costinesti is an important base for the youths and students camps. Follows to south the resorts –Olimp, Neptun, Jupiter, Aurora, Venus, Saturn with modern hotels, restaurants, bars, camps, sportive complexes; also close are holiday villages that enhance the charm of these places.

Mangalia situated on the ruins of the old settlement Callatis, is a complex balneal resort, with a modern sanatorium, owed to the close existence of some sources with thermal sulfuric water. Mangalia is settled in the warmest region of the country. Here the monthly temperature does not descend under zero degrees, this is the reason why the lilac, apricot, peach flower earlier than in other regions. The city is in a ceaseless transformation, becoming harbor and a significant centre of naval constructions.
The remains of the Callatis fortress, the monuments and the old necropolis, the Museum of archeology, the Mangalia Lake are objectives that claim to knowledge. At the western extremity of Mangalia Lake is the forestry reservation Hagieni which has 585ha total surface. The pleasant appearance of the landscape, with vegetation of Pontic and Mediterranean origin of scientific value attract the tourists all over the year.

The reservations of flora and fauna are considered goods of the entire nation. This is the reason why it has to be preserved by each of us. When we found ourselves in front of such reservations we need to protect them and to learn the others to do the same.

Beyond the shore, to east, with the shinny beaded resorts, the view slips on the high seas, this connects our country with the rest of the world trough other seas and oceans. One cannot leave the seaside without travelling by boat from Sulina to Constanta or Mangalia and back, or only between the harbors of the sea, without Danube Delta.

Is a special excitement while being in the high sea, to admire in a summer sunny day the radiance of the seaside, with its special clothing of real architectonic monuments, imposing picture in amazing colors. Watching the horizon, far from the shore, one can see on the sheen’s water the offshore drilling platform, technical creations of a great complexity, adapted to the necessities of drilling and extraction executed in the dockyard from Galati.

Not far from the shore it can be observed, at 1.5km high seas of Mamaia, a tower for automatic measurements concerning the quantities of sea’s water (oceanographic tower named “Tempo I”).

Almost cohered, the resorts from the seaside, from Mamaia to Mangalia, became great architectural ensembles, composing a whole big maritime resort of tents km long.

The same attraction for Romanian and foreigners has the historical monuments from the district. The edifices of the old fortresses Istria, Callatis are a testimonial of the old civilizations from this territory, very appealing for every tourist.
