My name is Cosmin Dan and I was born in Zarnesti City from County Brasov, near to one of the most picturesque and spectacular mountains of Romania – Piatra Craiului Mountains.
I started to walk in the mountains ever since I was a child.
I worked as a ranger for three years at the Piatra Craiului National Park Administration. My work contained many activities about public awareness and others, regarding our country’s nature and the necessity of the protected areas, organizing school camps and ecological activities for and with the pupils from the schools around the Piatra Craiului National Park, coordinating the volunteering activities, guiding for romanian and foreign tourists, and others.
The superior courses I attended in Brasov (the Forestry Faculty), the volunteering in the Zarnesti Mountain Rescue Team for over six years, the mountain guide statute and member of the Romanian Mountain Guides Association, also the statute of local tourism guide for County Brasov and national tourism guide, member of the Association Sport & Nature Piatra Craiului – organizer of some competitions for young people unique in our country (Iron Man Triathlon, Piatra Craiului Marathon – first mountain marathon in Romania, Postavaru Night – sky-mountaineering competition which takes place at night, etc.) and also, my vast mountain experience awards me a wealthy luggage of knowledge about vegetation, fauna, mountain expeditions, mountain security and rescue, sports movement, traditions and culture in the mountain areas and allover the country.
